Vocabulary

Acquire (v): 1- to get something.
E.g.: He acquired the firm in 2008.

Holistic (n):1- dealing with or treating the whole of something or someone and not just a part.
E.g.: My doctor takes a holistic approach to disease.

Cognitive: 1- connected with thinking or conscious mental processes: Some of her cognitive functions have been impaired.
E.g.: Some of her cognitive functions have been affected.

Deficiency (n): 1- a state of not having, or not having enough, of something that is needed.
E.g.: Pregnant women often suffer from iron deficiency.

Viable (adj): 1- able to work as intended or able to succeed
E.g.: In order to make the company viable, some people will unfortunately need to be fired.

Intrinsic (adj): 1- being an extremely important and basic characteristic of a person or thing.
E.g.: Maths is an intrinsic part of the school curriculum.

Alluring (adj): 1- attractive or exciting.
E.g.: She was wearing a most alluring dress at Sam’s dinner party.

Epidemic (n): 1- the appearance of a particular disease in a large number of people at the same time.
E.g.: There’s a flu epidemic happening in the city.

Co-pilot (n): 1- a second pilot (= person who flies an aircraft) in an airplane, who helps the pilot who is in charge
E.g.: The co-pilot helped land the plane.

Tertiary (adj): 1- relating to a third level or stage
E.g.: This is his tertiary function.

Bird’s-Eye View (n): 1- ​the ability to look at something from a very high place so that you see a large area below you.
E.g.: From the top of this building, you can get a bird’s-eye view of the city.
