Catch up (v): 1- to reach the same quality or standard as someone or something else.
E.g.: Will Western industry ever catch up with Japanese innovations?

Content (adj): 1- pleased with your situation and not hoping for change or improvement.
E.g.: He seems fairly content with his life.

Persuade (v): 1- to make someone do or believe something by giving them a good reason to do it or by talking to that person and making them believe it.
E.g.: If she doesn’t want to go, nothing you can say will persuade her.

Acronym (n): 1- an abbreviation consisting of the first letters of each word in the name of something, pronounced as a word.
E.g.: UN is an acronym for “United Nations”.

Co-pilot (n): 1- a second pilot (= person who flies an aircraft) in an airplane, who helps the pilot who is in charge
E.g.: The co-pilot helped land the plane.

Tertiary (adj): 1- relating to a third level or stage
E.g.: This is his tertiary function.
