Vocabulary

lease (n): a legal agreement in which you pay money in order to use a building, piece of land, vehicle, etc. for a period:
E.g.: He has the house on a long lease.
E.g.: The lease runs out/expires in two years’ time.
E.g.: We signed a three-year lease when we moved into the house.

meanwhile (adv): 1-until something expected happens, or while something else is happening:
E.g.: Carl’s starting college in September. Meanwhile, he’s traveling around Europe.
E.g.: We’ll buy you some shorts at the weekend, but meanwhile you’ll just have to wear your long trousers.
E.g.: The boys are still getting the mats out so, meanwhile, let’s do some warm-up exercises.

at the same time- If two things happen at the same time, they happen together:
E.g.: We arrived at the same time.

however (adv)-DESPITE THIS
E.g.: This is one possible solution to the problem. However, there are others.
E.g.: There may, however, be other reasons that we don’t know about.

the other side of the coin –​a different way of considering a situation, making it seem either better or worse than it did originally:
E.g.: I like having a white car, but the other side of the coin is that it soon gets dirty.

rain cats and dogs-to rain very heavily:
E.g.: Don’t forget to take your umbrella – it’s raining cats and dogs out there.

the other day (also the other night/week)-​recently:
E.g.: I saw him the other day.
E.g.: She called the other night.
