Speaking exercise

We got a huge order by the end of last year. The total quantity was 350,000 sets, which costed more than 1.5 million dollars. However, a few weeks ago, we got chargebacks from our client, who said our production had quality problems and lot of customers return them back after they bought them. And we were told the chargeback amount 3 hundreds thousands dollars.

Therefore, my boss decided to go to New York, where our client’s office locates as well as LA, where their warehouse locates. But when he arrived our client’s office, he was not allowed to go to the warehouse to see the returned products.

After a long conversation with their CEO, he finally got the truth. There was no fitting room in the buyer’s stores and the consumers couldn’t fit the clothes before they bought it. And when they took them home, they found the clothes didn’t suitable to them, so they returned them back without hangers. (because we ship our production with hangers so that the buyer can make the clothes for sale directly).

But when they got the returned clothes without hanger, they can’t sell them. So they tried to ask us to pay for their loss. We all think it is ridiculous but my boss finally accepted to pay half of the chargeback because the CEO of our client told him ‘If you don’t want to do my orders, I can find another supplier’.

It seems we don’t have any other choice.
