Vocabulary

on and off – used to describe things over time, meaning you do it for a while, then don’t do it for a while, and maybe go back to it.

eg: “I have been going to the gym on and off for about 10 years.”

Grammar

i can present it

  1. I am so hungry that i eat a lot. I am so hungry that I eat all the time.
  2. I notice a beautiful lady who is a celebrity’s wife.      I noticed a beautiful lady who is a celebrity’s wife. (Plain statement) Today I saw a celebrity’s wife who was really beautiful.
  3. The beautiful lady broke up her husband make me surprised.       The beautiful lady broke up with her husband who was cheating on her. When the beautiful lady broke up with her husband it surprised me. It surprised me when the beautiful lady broke up with her husband.
  4. I saw that a dog was coming here.     I saw that a dog was coming here to play with me.
  5. A dog got away from his home when I was going home.      A dog got out when I was going home.

“I like to eat fruit that is rotten and in the garbage.” (Lex January 5th 2016)       (The second clause has a very strong relationship affect on the first clause. Now the meaning of the first clause is totally different.)
