Vocabulary

trigger-happy– a phrase that means a person who has a weapon/gun is to eager to pull the trigger or use their weapon

eg. Some of the police in America can be trigger-happy.

po-po-nickname for a police officer in America.

eg. I’m running from the po-po.

expat-ex-patriate- Name given to citizens that have left their home country.

eg. You could say that all the foreigners in China are also expats. To be an ex-patriate.

confiscated– to take away

eg. The teacher caught me with my phone in class and confiscated it.

Grammar

Teacher taught me you can’t smoke in a public place its not manner.- My teachers growing up taught me that smoking in public was bad manners/or not polite.

I think Shanghai is becoming more modern.

I think nowadays that the Chinese are improving their manners/or becoming more polite.

Manners becoming important for Shanghainese. I think that good manners are becoming more important for the Shanghainese.

The Chinese manner is very bad.Chinese manners are very bad.
