loose ends – some parts that are not completely finished or may cause problems later. eg: Companies like to tie up (get rid of) any loose ends before the new year.” “I work harder than normal at the end of the year, because I don’t wanna leave any loose ends over the new year.”

The price has been inflating on basic items.

Usually I don’t take any medicine every time I catch a cold.

My company always leaves loose ends over the new year. It’s harder than normal to pick up those loose ends after the new year.

Companies inflate prices near the end of the year because they know that demand will not drop.
