Vocabulary 词汇

Aquarium – a zoo for sea creatures; can also refer to a personal fish tank.

Flush – the act of cleaning with water, usually only used in two scenarios:

Ex. After you use the bathroom, remember to flush the toilet.

Ex. If there is something in your eye, you can flush it out with water.

Member – a person who is part of a group

Membership – a person’s place as part of a group. We use this word normally to talk about memberships that people pay for (e.g. gyms, clubs).

It{s easier said than done means “it’s easier to talk about doing it rather than actually doing it.” For example, I could tell you “Cynthia, you need to get higher grades.” You could respond, “It’s easier said than done.”

The phrase to look up has more than one meaning. If you use the phrase with no object, it means to physically look up. For example, “look up, there’s a plane in the sky!” If you use the phrase with an object, it means “to search for online or in a book.” For example, “could you please look up her address so I can send her an invitation?”
