Vocabulary

Status quo (n): 1- the present situation or condition
E.g.: The country prefers to keep the status quo than to risk further losses.

Coalition (n): 1- a group formed of different organizations or people who agree to act together, usually temporarily, to achieve something.
E.g.: Liberal legislators formed a coalition that aimed to push for the approval of marriage equality.

Maneuver (n): 1- a movement or series of moves requiring skill and care. 2- a planned action that is intended to obtain an advantage. 3- a planned and controlled movement of military forces.
E.g.:  I maneuvered the grocery cart around piles of boxes to the checkout counter.

Kerfuffle (n): 1- a commotion or fuss, especially one caused by conflicting views.
E.g.: There was a kerfuffle over the chairmanship.
