Vocabulary

Privilege  (n): 1- a special right, advantage, or immunity given or available only to a particular person or group of people.
E.g.: Good health care should be a right and not a privilege.

Capitalism (n): 1- a way of organizing an economy so that the things that are used to make and transport products (such as land, oil, factories, ships, etc.) are owned by individual people and companies rather than by the government. 2- 資本主義
E.g.: He firmly believe in the principles of Capitalism.

Communism (n): 1- a way of organizing a society in which the government owns the things that are used to make and transport products (such as land, oil, factories, ships, etc.) and there is no privately owned property. 2- 共產主義
E.g.: He wanted to spread the ideas of Communism to other parts of the world.

Individualism (n): 1- the pursuit of individual interests, instead of common or collective interests Vs  Collectivism  (n): 1- the idea that people should care more about the good of society than the welfare of the individual.)
E.g.: It’s interesting how collectivism may actually lead to certain individualistic behaviors.

Xenophobia (n): 1-  fear or hatred of foreigners, people from different cultures, or strangers. 2- 仇外心理
E.g.: Xenophobia
 is becoming a serious problem in Europe and in the United States.

New Year’s Eve (n): 1- December 31st
E.g.: Chuyi’s birthday is on New Year’s Eve.
