F2F Class Notes 19th July (Harmony)

Storytelling:

The usual things that I do with my friends are just going to a bar with some friends and talk, I like this way spending time with my friends.  And during the talking or eating with my friends we talk a lot about our career, or life, troubles, and time goes so quickly when I spend time with them.  Last week I went to see my childhood friends we have a group but I met just the two of them last week.  And one of them is pregnant, and she is about to have a baby, and have a boy!  Maybe she gets a honeymoon baby, just right after the marriage.  And it was a very good time to meet them.  We had lunch and then went shopping, and had dinner.  Spent almost a day together.  We hate sports, we just like staying at a place and talking and drinking. We will plan some tours nearby or just in Shanghai, maybe a tour visiting old buildings and may things of tours.

Harmony Re-Write:

Normally my friends and I go to a bar to drink and talk, I really like spending time with them in this way.  Usually we have a meal, or plan to just meet for drinks.  We always talk a lot, about everything.  Such as career, life, or drama.  The time flies when we are together.

Last week I met up with 2 of my childhood friends who live here in Shanghai.  There is a large group of us that still talk to each other, but us 3 are the only ones in this city.  One of my friends that I met up with is pregnant with a baby boy!  He is a honeymoon baby!  Anyways, it was a really good time together.  We had lunch, went shopping and then ate dinner, we spent most of the day together.

My friends and I hate sports, so we don’t like to go to the batting cages or anything like that.  We like to pick a place and spend the night there drinking and talking.  Maybe sometimes we will play day-trips to areas around Shanghai to see old architecture.

Anyways/Anyhow—when you get off track, want to get back onto the original topic.

Eg.  Johnny was late for work today, actually so was his boss… anyways… blah blah blah.

Actually to correct someone:

Eg.  The movie starts at 8.   —-  Actually it starts at 8:30, so we have lots of time.

Transition words:

  • Therefore, however, next, after that, thus, consequently, subsequently, nevertheless

Nevertheless:  however, in spite of that.
