What makes you suitable for this role? / What skills and abilities do you have that suit the role?

I used to work for PR agency; our team was doing FMCG & Clothing PR service.
agricultural distribution. We delivered agricultural and household products for famers and helped them to sell their products such as corn to city companies. My main responsibility was liaising with the individuals in charge of the project and to write report for the manager. Therefore I have decision making skills and analytical ability, communication skills and logical thinking which I think are right for this role. For event planner those skills are very important, there lots of details we have to care about such as what kind of tissues should used in event day. And event is live activities, even you have done one hundred percent preparation there always some unexpected things happened in that day therefore analytical ability can help me to understand the situation well then I can use my communication skills and decision making skills to fix the problems.
1. Marketing & PR- PR & marketing strategic planning, familiarity with media operations, ability to analyze and perceive current and future market information
2. Project Management- ability to plan around tight deadlines and ensure that the operation is successfully executed
3. Customer Service and Communications- practice in liaising with lifestyle & fashion media, clients, and vendors. Ability to properly communicate and build rapport with clients, including those in the FMCG & Clothing industry such as adidas NEO Label , Backjoy, Miacare, LG Hausys, etc.

Talk about a time when I have faced a challenging situation, how did I deal with it?

This big challenge for me was that I decided to study in the UK, I was working for logistic company that time, and I had to study English after work. That made me very stressful, but time management was important in that period. I have to arrange my leisure time to study and prepare for to study aboard. Finally I passed IELTS test and finished handover work. Doing working and studying in same time was very hard to me, but I survived. Time management was the key to done both of them.

New Answer:

My biggest challenge was sample management, because when I was working in a PR agency one of my clients was selling clothing and shoes, so I needed to do sample management for them.  Media needed to borrow the samples for shooting, so they can use them for magazine etc.  Most of the time we just have one piece of samples, so 5 medias want that t-shirt or that shoes to shoot, and you just have one.  And you need to re-arrange your shooting schedule and do a lot of communication with media.  And you need to try everything to figure this out, and I figured out that sometimes media need the sample just because they like the color, so in this situation you can change the sample for them and find other shoes or clothes in red and send it to them.  And sometimes they just want a t-shirt, so you can just give them other t-shirt.  To overcome this situation you can learn lot of management and communication skills, practice.

What motivates me?
Working with a good team to complete the task successfully, then I can share complementary skills with other people, gaining experience form others as well. The chance to gain more experience ooand skills motivates me. On the other hand, self-satisfaction is my motivation as well, when I have done the project or event, I fell satisfaction from the job.

What is your strength and weakness?
I have passion on event industry. This is important because this sector need to work on high pressure environment. If I don’t like it; it is hard to keep this career. I had little bit work experience in logistics and financial department, so I have budget and analyzing skills. Than can help me get used to this role quickly.

I learn event management form the UK, China has its own event system so I need time put my knowledge into work environment. To see what is different from the UK and China. Other weakness is I am new in this sector, my colleague and I are in the different level, so sometimes it would bother me. But I believe I can fix this problem as soon as I can. I am quick leaner so it’s not a big problem.

What is your long-term career plan?

I have studied Event Management in the UK for more than one year, but I lack of real experience. So from now on the most important things to me are learning and practising. That’s why I interest in your company, I believe that I can learn and share your professional experience of events. Learning and practising are what I need now. My long-term goals involve growing with a company where I can continue to learn and contribute as much of value as I can. I believe I can enhance my skills via hosting many events and projects in your company. Once I gain enough skills for current position I will move to next one. The leadership is what I want to learn and practising in the future, I can see myself as event manager in five years.
