Cultural hotpot/ Cultural hub – somewhere that has a lot of people from different cultures. (e.g. Shanghai and London are both cultural hubs because they were both important trading cities.)

Flopped down – to fall down with no energy. (e.g. I was so tired when I got home that I immediately flopped down onto my bed.)

On the last day of February I had dinner with my coworkers at a Japanese buffet. During dinner, my workmates repeatedly ordered food again and again. However, the problem was that there was still so much food that we hadn’t finished. I suggested we should only order food after we finished the previous dishes, but they didn’t listen to me. After paying the bill, I saw that we had wasted so much food. Looking at the table, I felt so wasteful.
Wasting food is bad manners. Food is very important to us and we can not live without it. We should realize that there are still people in famine, especially in developing countries. While poverty stricken people are eager for food, many people in developed countries are wasting food. We must change society’s view on wasting food or one day we will be unable to feed the world’s population.
I always finish my meal without leaving anything in the bowl and I think it is a good habit. I hope in the future more people will behave like this.
