*Note: Asking someone “do you feel hurt” means “do you feel that someone hurt you” because the word hurt is a verb. For example, if your girlfriend broke up with you, I can ask you “do you feel hurt?”

Vocabulary


Bruise – an area of skin left black and blue after an injury

Graduate student – someone pursuing a post-graduate degree, 研究生

Dorms – short form of the word “dormitories”

Undergraduate – adjective, still in college

Ex. A bachelor’s degree is an undergraduate degree.

Graduate or Post-graduate – adjective, higher than college

Bachelor’s Degree – 学士

Master’s Degree – 硕士

Doctorate Degree – 博士

Expressions


The word move generally implies moving houses. So, saying “I moved last week” means “I moved [houses] last week.”

We refer to undergraduate studies as college and post-graduate studies as grad-school. So saying “I graduated from college” means “I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree”

Ex. We graduated from college together = we earned our undergraduate degrees together.
