F2F Class Notes 15th January (Jesse) [W]

It will be Chinese New Year soon, but I’m not interested because I don’t have the feeling of when I was a child.
During my childhood, I wouldn’t get any snacks and toys before CNY. So when it was almost Chinese New Year, my parents prepared a lot of candy, fruits and all kinds of dishes. They got the feast ready. Many of my favorite dishes took a long time to cook. I always observed my mom cooking the dishes because / as / due to the fact that I could learn how to cook, it was very interesting. Then we ate / had dinner very slowly. After dinner, my parents gave the red packets to my brother and me / we got red envelopes from my parents, we were so happy / excited / pleased. Usually, I got 20 RMB in my red packet which was a lot of money for me. However, my mom always said “Don’t waste your money, let me save it for you,” then she took the red packet back from me. That evening in the last 5 minutes/Five minutes before midnight, everyone would set off firecrackers at the doorway to celebrate / welcome the new year.
