Vocabulary

Shanghainese – someone/something from Shanghai
eg. I love to eat Shanghainese food.

Cuisine – food from a certain place
eg. I love to eat Chinese cuisine.
eg. My favorite cuisine is probably Indian.

Dish – a single meal from any place
eg. My favorite dish is from Hawaii and called Poke Bowl.
eg. My favorite food is a Hawaiian dish.

Culture shock – to be very surprised to the cultural differences of another place

Rural – (opposite of urban) a small village area or place with no one living there

Go out – to go on a date, or go and do something somewhere (not at home)
eg. Do you want to go out with me tonight? (means date)
eg. Want to go out and grab a beer tonight? (hangout with a friend)
eg. When there is a big storm in Canada, the power might go out.
eg. He must really love you to go out of his way for you.

Go ahead – to allow someone to do something
eg. You can go ahead and eat dinner without me because I will work late.
