______ means ______.      Left Behind means the other people left and did not take that person with them.

Jia Ni, it sounds like jenny.

eg: Thank you for rescuing me from the fire.

Counselor – a person who talks to others who have problems or to help them make plans

eg: “When I meet some problems I don’t know how to solve I go to ask the counselor.”

eg: Shanghai’s traffic is sometimes very harsh.

pressure – when something presses or pushes against something else

eg: My job always pressures me a lot.     My boss pressured me to quit, I didn’t and he got fired one week later.

Why did you decide to go back to school?

Original –

I decide to go back to school because I think I need to learn more knowledges for my work. I graduated from university until now is about 8 years. In this 8 years I think is very hard for work, but not have time to study and I think if I want to work in the different area I need to learn more about the world. Because I’m not married and I have time to study.

Correction –

I decided to go back to school because I think I need to obtain more knowledge for my work. I graduated from university 8 years ago. In those 8 years I think I worked very hard, but didn’t have time to study. I think if I want to work in a different field I need to learn more about the world. Since I’m single I can take advantage of my free time and use it to study.

Profile:

Occupation: Deputy Secretary for Government Youth Education.    Works as a youth counselor, including finding young people to volunteer, teaching them about group activities for Junior Party Members.

Studied Sociology at TongJi university in Shanghai. Applying for a master’s degree in sustainable development at Shanghai University and will spend the last 6 months of the program in France.

Class Focus: Has an important interview on April 22nd with a French professor for and English speaking class at Shanghai University. Wants to speak more and correct mistakes after. Wants homework but is also busy with her job, so it should not be overwhelming. She needs to improve her vocabulary and add some more complex sentence structures.
