Vocabulary

tripod – a three legged stand for cameras

eg: I used a tripod to do a selfie.

flare – an angle of light coming off an object, in the lens of the camera

eg: The flares coming off the rock are really nice.

bias N.   biased ADJ – your decision or opinion is already influenced by something

eg: My favorite food is pizza, but I’m biased because I used to work at a great pizza place.

eg: I think photos with people as the subject look better, because I am biased about the lack of people in my photos.

anti-social – don’t like being social

eg: I can be a little anti-social.

Brew V. – make a drink with hot water, like tea, coffee, beer…

eg: Can you brew some coffee?

brewery – a place that makes beer

eg: He’s the brewmaster at Shanghai brewery.

eg: Fat Cow serves Shanghai brewery beer.

acquire – to get something through work, or a long time

eg: Beer is an acquired taste. Usually you have to drink beer for a while before you like it.

sampler – try a few different things at once, a set of samples

eg: I can’t tell the difference between all the beers in the sampler.

backcountry -out of the ski resort area, basically just the forest.

eg: If you ride backcountry you need a real GPS device

Salt Lake City – the capital of UTAH

pads – protection you wear during sports

eg: I wear knee pads and elbow pads when I snowboard, and a helmet

helmet – head protection

eg: you should always wear a helmet when you ride through the trees.

a trick – a special move in some sports

eg: Can you do a 180? Of course, that was the first trick I learned.
