VIP Class Notes (Tibo)

Speaking exercise

I am working for the Pernaud Ricard Client.
The VP from their brand team will come in SH soon and that is her first visit in China and she wants to get familiar so we will help to prepare some documents.

To talk about the micro environment of the Chinese market.

The PR is focused on the spirit and wine field so we need to learn to learn about the overall market situation and give a presentation and we need to prepare some materials.
Specially focused on the wine and spirit industry.

Maybe client requests us to prepare briefing documents. Maybe the VPs will request some business strategy in China and we need to help them to invite some trade media focused on wine and spirit and the general media.

Maybe some top tier media titles.
Maybe we need a small scale media round table.
As you know, for the PR agencies media request handling is our essential way to our work -> is our main job / it is our primary goal

The audience can get more knowledge and overview from this article and we can get more media exposure.
After this week we can get a little rest.

she has not came in China before, it is the first time after the pandemic.
She is eager to know how the situation -> She is eager to know how the situation is / she is curious about the situation

She wants to seek for the opportunities on how they can improve and development their business strategy. -> improve and develop

They are just focused on the budget allocation. She wants to see that according to this Chinese visit.

Almostly -> we mostly find the info from our clients
They are the most familiar with their own brand.
the up to date information is the effective way to get from them -> asking them is an effective way to get information.

The media and KOLs are the most essential ways to get information.
There are opportunities to talk with them.

If we get info we summarize and sort out this info and share it with the client.
This is our most essential work flow to retain the business -> this is one of ways we keep our clients happy

information online is the freshest / the newest.

Like the brand BMW is not the related field with us.
I service PR and Swatch.
I don’t think so they are worried about that but actually we discussed about those issues and when we saw a statement we were curious about why it got so bad.

The wording was not professional, we discussed with the client about the statement.
We can learn about the attitude from the audience and discuss with our colleagues if this happened to us, what would be a better way to handle it

I am service for their group -> I service their group / I am responsible for the group

They complained about the product quality. At that time we were busy to deal with their crisis management.

Some consumers said the color would wash out .
Some consumers complained and we asked the HQ,
It was happening in the worldwide -> it was happening worldwide

after we got the explanation we discussed and agreed we should not make a statement to explain about the quality issue. So we just decided to keep silent.

The MoonSwatch was so popular worldwide so the launch store in SH is limited.
Many people stand out of the store -> people were lining up outside of the store.

The product was limited as well so consumers couldn’t buy the product so there are negative voices on the social platforms / many could not buy the product and they complained online.
After one day the official website said that the product in China is sold out and they said we have requested the HQ and it would be produced after a month.

They opened the online website to purchase. Many consumers were so angry about why the online purchasing channel is so strange. It was very complex  / people complained about how hard it was to buy online.

he said the reason is that he knows the people in the pandemic situation the mood is so sad and he wants to take this chance to encourage people to go out and feel the life. -> He said originally they felt during the pandemic people were very sad and they wanted to use the watch as an opportunity to make people reconnect with the pre pandemic life.

so many consumers got up at 5am and then they went to the store and lined up but after a few hours they still could not buy the watch.

Our team also wanted to buy the watch but we knew the problem was stock was so limited.
we all didn’t go to the store to buy that -> none of us went to the store

They find us and said they can add the money or maybe double but they cannot find the channels to buy. -> They were willing to pay a premium / they were willing to pay over MSRP

I saw the price on the Chinese Ebay  / online secondary marketplace was high

a lot of media friends they all said when I get one I just want to get the whole collection.

They said to me when you get the whole collection it can be more meaningful.

it is just like collecting stamps / it stimulates their collector’s mindset

I don’t know if you get what my said ->I don’t know if you get what I mean

We supported them to draft articles.

Like their wearing experience. It was a big move for them.
He focused more on this new action.
the development of Swatch is not good as before time -> Swatch is not doing as well as before  / Swatch sales are doing worse than before.

I don’t see adults wear it but the HQ said their target in China is between 35-55.
They don’t want it to become a young brand. They want to make it elegant.

The fans of the watch / watch lovers are so loyal
