1. negatives:
   be + not
   e.g., she is not taking a shower.

   other verbs: does/do not + verb
   e.g/,  she doesn’t take a shower at night/in the afternoon on the weekend.

2. asking questions:
   be: move ‘be’ to the beginning of a sentence
   e.g., is she a teacher?

   other verbs: move ‘does/do’ to the beginning of a sentence
   e.g., does she know him?
   intonation: rising tone

3. answering questions:
   yes she is/does
   no she isn’t/doesn’t
   based on fact, not the question itself
4. wh- questions
   intonation: falling tone
