Vocabulary
empathy – the ability to understand and feel the same feelings as another
ex. Does the author intend to make us empathise with any of the characters?
ex. Having empathy for others is extremely important.
sympathy – feeling sorry for another person’s misfortune
ex. Although the Baudelaires have been misfortunate, we don’t necessarily sympathise with their situation.
blabber – to talk nonsense
ex. Babies blabber before they can speak.
furtive – avoid notice or attention because of guilt or to avoid getting discovered
ex. Very Furtive Disguise
Grammar
They are dead/They aren’t dead – adjective
They died/They didn’t die – verb
die – died – dying
simple present tense of die – to say what happens
ex. He dies.
present perfect tense of die – means the person is already dead at the time of speaking
ex. He has died.
Speaking exercise
They didn’t dead.
They didn’t die
He can only does speak. Only she can bite.
She can only blabber and she is the only who can bite.
Somebody can also be good at that.
Anyone can also be good at that.
