Today we focused on:

Reading “Mrs. Patty is Batty” 1-2

Vocabulary

express – quick/high speed

ex. express train/express delivery/express service

fully booked – when all the tables/rooms/seats are already reserved

ex. The tables are fully booked.

ex. All the seats are booked for this holiday season.

dismiss –  allow someone to leave

ex. Class is dismissed.

ex. The students were dismissed early because of the bad weather.

dismiss – get someone to quit their job because of something they did wrong

ex. Mr White was dismissed for not finishing his work.

batty – crazy/silly

ex. Don’t take any of her batty ideas into consideration!

ex. Why is Mrs. Patty batty?

mischief/n – to be a bit naughty but not seriously bad

ex. She’s been up to some mischief while I was gone.

ex. You need to keep yourself out of mischief or I’ll tell your mother.

scoop ice cream – use a tool with a bowl-shaped end to dig up ice cream/mud/baby powder
