transplant – take an organ and put it in another body

ex. organ transplant

waiting list – a list of people waiting for something

ex. I’ll put you on the waiting list.

ex. There are many names on the organ transplant waiting list.

terminally ill – so sick that you will die

ex. The man who agreed to the pig heart transplant is a terminally ill patient.

life-support machine – keeps your heart and lungs working

substitute/n/v – replace

ex. Can you substitute animal meat with meat made of soy?

compatible – good match

ex. The patient and the donor’s heart are compatible so he’s agreed to having the operation.

skunk – small black and white animal that releases an awful smell

Maybe those patients that are waiting for the organs can use the organ from the other animals.

Maybe those patients that are waiting for a human organ can choose organs from  other animals instead.

Use the organs from the human and organs from the other animal.

Use organs from humans and organs from other animals.
