A 45 years old male presented with symptoms of bilious vomiting as well as abdominal pain and constipation for more than 2 weeks. He said that he had lost
weight over 3 months and had been thoroughly
investigated for bleeding diarrhoea over the preceding 5 years.Blood tests showed microcytic, hypochromic anaemia.All endoscopies’ result were normal, so we were failing to identify a bleeding source.He had no significant family history. He was an ex-smoker with a 32 pack-year history and a retired engineer living independently.On examination, his observations were stable;
abdominal examination showed distention.CT scan revealed a mass in the small bowel, causing an ileojejunal intussusception.A laparotomy was performed with small bowel resection
around the intussusception.The patient recovered well postoperatively.
