One of my favorite dinner place in shanghai is Fengmao BBQ, which is the North east China BBQ cuisine, with a bit of Korean flavor dishes. The head quarter of the restaurant is in Jilin, North east part of China, and now has more than 50 restaurants in China. There are four shops in Shanghai, the one I went to last night is in Changping Road, which is not far from Jing An temple. Before you walk in the place, you will be able to smell BBQ from outside. The design of the shop is colorful and bright, with lots of container and industrial design. There is an area where they show all the skewering and meat cutting process behind the glass, which can show the quality of meat and cleanness. This place is always fully booked seven days a week. They do not accept any reservation before 6pm until 8pm, but still attract many clients queuing up outside the door in the cold winter day. They have placed some snacks on the table for waiting queue.

The dinner experience in the restaurant is enjoyable, especially in the winter because you can feel the warm fire in front of you. All the BBQ cooked at the machine in the middle of the table, which clients do not need to cook by themselves and there is no smoke from the cooking. There will be four types of sources available for each customers, including wet sauce, dry sauce, ziran flavor and spicy sauce. All types of foods are available for cooking, such as different part of meats, sea foods, vegetables and bread, and what makes their restaurant special is all meats are freshly killed on the day. I also like their Korean style hot dishes, such as corn noodles and lamp soup. Their menu updated every season, which you can always try new foods every time when you visited. Waiters serve foods fast and with good attitude.

However I was a bit disappointed last night, maybe I was been picky. Firstly, we couldn’t order the alcohol we want last night, due to out of stocks and we do not want normal beer, instead, we ordered Chinese Bai Jiu for friends, which I’m not a fan of it. Secondly, there are many MSG in the sauce this time, which makes my throat not feeling well after got home. Other than that, food is great with lot of laugh on the table, and it is the most important.
