Vocabulary
Totem Poles- Sculptures made by Native Americans.
e.g. When I went to Vancouver, I saw many totem poles.
Monopoly- When you control access to a single resource or market.
e.g. Air Canada has a monopoly on international flights in Canada, it decides who does what.
Wire tap- When a government agent or other person puts a listening chip on your phone.
e.g. My mom thinks the government has wire tapped our phones.
Hypocrites- Someone who does one thing and says another.
e.g. America is sometimes hypocritical in how it carries out its trade decisions.
Disproportionate- Something that isn’t equal to something else.
e.g. The penalty was disproportionate to the crime.
Jinx- To curse someone
e.g. Please don’t wish me good luck, I’m afraid you will jinx me.
