Speaking exercise

Today I want to introduce a case study, a marketing case.

The client is McDonalds in Japan. At the beginning of this year, they leveraged the American election campaign to create their hamburger election campaign.

So they divided their hamburgers into 2 parties. One was a beef party, the other was beside beef party, including chicken and seafood, bacon.

So they firstly they opened a hamburger election campaign on YouTube and they replaced a fake news to announce this campaign.

And they invited 2 celebrities to support each party. And they created a lot of short videos for very hamburger to state their campaign statement, like if I were selected, I will provide double beef with the same price. That’s their statement.

And the best part was they linked the campaign to their sales, because if you wanted to vote, you had to vote because you had to scan the QR code. So if you want to vote, you had to buy.

Last they also provided datas because you vote for your favorite hamburger, which means you like that, so I know your favourite flavour so I can provide coupon or incentives to attract you buy again.

So that’s why I love this campaign, because they not only leverage the hot trends, but also link online audience to offline buyers and they also create valuable datas. I think it’s works, that’s why I love it.

Today I want to introduce a case study, a marketing case.

The client is McDonalds in Japan. At the beginning of this year, they took advantage of the American election campaign to create their own hamburger election campaign.

So they divided their hamburger offer into 2 opposing parties. One was the beef hamburgers party, the other was the non-beef hamburgers party, including chicken, seafood and bacon burgers.

So they first launched a hamburger election campaign on YouTube and they released an official announcement to declare it.

And they invited 2 celebrities to support each party. And they created a lot of short videos for every hamburger to state their campaign promises, like what they would do if they were elected, such as providing twice more beef at the same price. That was one of their statements.

And the best part was (that) they linked the campaign to their sales, because if you wanted to vote, you had to buy a burger and scan a QR code. So if you wanted to vote, you had to buy something.

On top of that, they also collected data as voting for your favorite hamburger meant you liked it, so they could know your favorite flavor and provide coupons or incentives to encourage you to buy again.

So that’s why I loved this campaign, because they didn’t only leverage the current hot trends, but also converted online audiences to offline buyers and they also collected valuable data.

I think this kind of strategy works, that’s why I love it.
