I had a 6 year old cat before, but it was stolen 5 years ago. It was a beautiful kitten and was my grandma‘s favorite little thing, so when it disappeared, grandma was sadder than me. It always had slept on my grandma’s pillow with her. I wanted to buy a new cat for my grandma after a while, but finally I gave up. Every time I see pictures of cats, I get a little emotional.
Is it discrimination to set up parking spaces especially for women?
A news story says that there are women-only parking spaces in some of the shopping malls in China. The management of the shopping malls says they arrange this because they want to show they care for female drivers. However, some female drivers regard this policy as discrimination against women. Some women argue that to have special parking arrangements in place for women implies that females drivers are less capable than their male counterparts. They believe the shopping malls need to stop doing this because they don’t want to reinforce stereotypes related to female drivers. But at the same time, some drivers regard this special policy as good news as it indeed has brought some convenience to women. I believe shopping malls have good intentions but perhaps they need to find a better name for the special parking space to better reflect those good intentions.
