Last week，I saw the speech by Michelle who is Obama’s wife on video. She is a powerful surrogate to Clinton for this year. The idea of this speech is about children.She explained some questions, including
“who will have the power to shape the children for the next four or eight years of their lives. “, “why she thought Clinton is the most suitable person for president of USA. and so on.

I admire her. As a women, she is so smart, her degree is very high at that time she just was a little girl. She is a great mum, her daughters are pretty and smart as well. Surely, her husband is a excellent man. The most important thing is that I think she has open minded and wise thinks. At the speech , she said the children will be tomorrow start, so how to teach and educate becomes more and more importantly. I don’t want to be the first wife, but maybe I can learn from her to be great wife and woman.

In/During the speech, she said “children will be tomorrow’s start/opportunity, so how to teach and educate them that becomes more and more important.” I don’t want to be the first wife, but maybe I can learn from her to be great wife and woman.

Obama = a last name (family name)

Michelle = first name (given name)

Middle names = given names

Eg.  Michelle Obama, who is the United States President’s wife.

Eg.  Who is Barrack Obama’s wife.

Harmony (given) Renae (middle-given) Mesenbrink (family name/surname)

Chen’s parents had 2 kids

• Chen & Johnny
• Johnny already had 1 child and used his family name.

If Chen then has a child, could he name the child after Damon’s family name to keep both names going?

But!  If Damon & Chen have 2 kids, one could have Chen’s name and one could have Damon’s name.

North America:

• You can keep your maiden name.
• But if you are planning to have kids, likely you will change your name to your husband’s family name.

Maiden name:  your family name before you got married.

Maiden name:  Harmony Mesenbrink

Married name: Harmony Schaad

Legally (because I haven’t done the paperwork) Harmony Mesenbrink

Hyphen name:  Mesenbrink – Schaad

Eg.  A way for women to keep their family name at the same time as taking their husband name.

Some women don’t change their name

• They’re famous already with their name
• They have a business with that name
• Personal preference
• They’re an only child so they need to keep the name going

My family:

Traditionally the second child will have the mother’s maiden name as their middle name.
