A merger

Didi and Uber announced their merger yesterday, which also means the battle of China’s private vehicles operation is over. What will happen after this merger and how will it influence our life?

Firstly, one thing is clear that the cost of booking a private vehicle will be higher than ever before, because there’s more necessarily for them to provide discounts to users. Before that, the two companies acquired and tired to grab users from others’ through continuously providing discount for users. We will miss the days that we spent less money than taxi taking private vehicles.

Secondly, it seems like the battle is over. The two platform is taking 90% market share, but we will never know if there is another one to appeal and turn them upside down, just like lasted year, after Didi and Kuaidi , which topped the no.1 and no.2 of taxi booking industry, merging with each other, Uber arrived. I’m looking forward to the third to push Didiand and Uber give some discounts again.

Lastly, what’s the next step for the two platforms? Especially for Didi, I think it should increase its technique to provide more customized service for both domestic drivers and riders, while at the same time develop the overseas business.
