Yesterday, a class mate of mine, who just arrived in Asia, asked me if I like living in Shanghai. I told him that in my opinion this city has both positives and negatives. For me the most negative thing is the pollution, I have to check the pollution levels everyday because when it’s high my son must stay at home/inside. In our place/our home we have two air purifiers that are on 24/7. Another thing I can’t stand about Shanghai is the traffic, the drivers don’t respect the traffic lights and the zebra crossings even when a pedestrian is pushing a stroller. I feel that I’m risking my son’s life every time I go for a walk with him. The weather is also very tough for me because I’m not used to the extreme cold during the winter and the extreme heat of summer. The weather in my hometown is just right/just perfect. Another thing that I missed so much while living in Shanghai is the sea. My hometown is surrounded by the ocean and has a lot of beautiful beaches.
On the other hand, Shanghai is a very safe place in the sense that here aren’t many violent robberies or terrorist attacks. Another positive thing is that it is full of good bars and restaurants where you can enjoy all sorts of food from all over the world. Another benefit/positive of living in Shanghai is that it is a very convenient location and has a big airport so is easy to fly to a lot of nice destinations, such as Japan, Australia or The Philippines.
