Atmosphere (at – mos – fear)

Deplete:  to decrease by a large amount/ or use of the supply of sth.

Eg.  The chemicals are depleting the ozone layer.

Eg.  Fossil fuels are being depleted by humans.

Volcano (vall – cay –no)

A biggest hole on recordthe biggest hole on record

We had did everything we could do – we had done everything we could do.

Even we did well, we did everything we can do – even though we did well…

“Even though”

  1. Even though Johnny was late for work he still had a good day.

Eg.  Even though we banned certain chemicals, the ozone layer is still being depleted.

Fossil fuels:  gas and oil that was created by fossils decaying underground.

Fossil:  old bones from dinosaurs.

Natural resources:  gas, oil, water, air……

Good news about environment

A report showed the ozone layer in the upper atmosphere has shrunk year over year. That’s a rare success on environmental problem. In the middle 80’s, scientists found a big hole in the ozone layer in the South Pole, which caused ice melted, which would lead to the sea level increasing. So human beings got together and banned the chemicals to protect the ozone layer from it.
Now we can see the good result. Although it doesn’t mean we have fixed the problem, it is still a good thing about environment protection.
However, the scientists found the biggest hole on record. It was really puzzling that it seemed like we had done everything we can do, but there was still a big hole in ozone layer. It turned out the volcano eruption in Chile last April, which means even though we tried our best to product the nature, it still has ability to destroy itself with no reason. It proves again that we can never beat the nature and we should pay our respect on it.

Good news about environment

A report showed the hole in the ozone layer in the upper atmosphere has shrunk year over year. That’s a rare success on environmental problems/issues. In the mid 80’s, scientists found a big hole in the ozone layer in the South Pole, which caused the ice to melt, which would lead to the sea level increasing/rising. So human beings got together and banned the chemicals to protect the ozone layer from it.
Now we can see the good result. Although it doesn’t mean we have fixed the problem, it is still good news about environment protection.
However, the scientists found the biggest hole on record last year. It was really puzzling that it seemed like we had done everything we could do, but there was still a big hole in the ozone layer. It turned out (the problem was/the culprit was) the volcano eruption in Chile last April was to blame, which means even though we tried our best to product nature, it still has ability to destroy itself with no reason. It proves again that we can never beat nature and we should pay our respect to it.

Melted (mell – tid)
