About household

We had a busy Sunday last week. In the morning, we bought lots of ingredients from a supermarket after swimming, because my wife wanted to cook health meals for four days according to a recipe from Internet. We spent over two hours on cooking in a hot kitchen in the afternoon. After we returned from my parents for dinner, we spent another two hours on cleaning our apartment. I was too tired to do anything else, so I just lay down in bed after a shower.
I planned to learn English, update my blog and do some reading at weekend. However, I did nothing besides household. Maybe we should put more time on meaningful things, rather than being busy for household. Cooking, laundry, sweeping, shorten time spent on households and save more time on what are worth doing.

I planned to spend a bit of time / some time studying English, update my blog and do some reading at the weekend / on the weekend. However, I did nothing besides housework. Maybe we should put more time into meaningful things, rather than cooking, doing laundry, sweeping etc and shorten the time spent on housework and save more time on what is really worth doing.
