If critics review a book, play, film, etc. they write their opinion of it.

razor (n): a small device with a sharp blade for removing hair, especially from the face or legs

critique

to give an opinion or judgment about a piece or work, book, film, etc

the phrase “constructive criticism,” which refers to helpful criticism intended to encourage improvement. Negative criticism, in contrast, is just intended to show a person they’re wrong.
