Vocabulary

mislead – to cause someone to believe something that is not true

greenwashing – when companies, organisations and the government mislead people into thinking that their products/services are good for the environment

word of mouth – by being told by another person

ex. Word of mouth is usually the best form of marketing.

ex. We found this place by word of mouth.

vague – not very clear

ex. Advertisers try to market eco-friendly terms in a vague way.

Where did the term come from? 

A guy travels to Fiji and then he finds a sign that says “Pick up these towels to save coral reefs”.

I think those people who buy the companies products are quite stupid.

Those fake products which use greenwash. The people who buy them can  not know what’s true.

Those fake products are the result of greenwashing. Consumers don’t know what to believe in.
