Vocabulary

Different prepositions are used with sleep.

Sleep over – to spend the night at a friend/family member’s house for free
I slept over at my best friend’s house when I was 8

Sleep at – night / specific time
I always go to sleep at 11 P.M.
Sleeping at night is good for your healthy.

Sleep in – the morning / the afternoon / the evening/ the day
I like to sleep a little in the afternoon
Teenagers like to sleep in the day

Sleep during + time
I like to sleep during the day time

Bachelor’s Degree
I got a bachelor’s degree in IT

Master’s Degree
My friend is studying towards a master’s degree

oven – 烤箱
There’s some chicken in the oven
Shanghai is like an oven today

placid (adj) – peaceful water
The black sea is usually placid

Ferris wheel – 摩天轮
Children like to ride on the ferris wheel

decorate (verb) – to make it beautiful by adding some things which are not useful
I decorated my home

regime (noun) (countable) – can be used to talk about different things. When talking about sleep, it refers to your sleeping pattern>
It’s hard to change your regime when you have been going to bed late every day

crime (noun)
There isn’t a lot of crime in Georgia

criminal (adj)
Criminal activity is rare

criminal (personal noun)
He is a criminal

Grammar

Remember to use the past participle in the passive voice
I was accept by a university in Wuhan
I wa accepted by a university in Wuhan

I drink 10 cups of coffee nearly every day – not every day (maybe 6 out of 7 days)
I drink nearly 10 cups of coffee every day – not 10 cups (maybe 9 cups)
