  • Read this and be prepared to talk about your opinions:

Breaking upĀ is hard to do ā€“ or so some people say. If youā€™re in aĀ relationshipĀ but not asĀ loved-upas you once were, when is the right time toĀ call it a day? The longer the relationship, the harder it can be. But once you do make the break, is it still possible to maintain aĀ friendshipĀ with your ex-partner?

When youā€™ve beenĀ dumped, the classic line thatā€™s often used is ā€˜letā€™s just be friendsā€™. That can be eitherĀ wishful thinkingĀ or something to soften the blow of bad news. However, when youĀ fellĀ madlyĀ in loveĀ with your partner all those weeks, months or years ago, it would have been hard to imagine youā€™d fall out of love. And so salvaging something from that time, and remaining friends, could be a good thing to do.

Itā€™s good if a break-up isĀ amicableĀ ā€“ it avoids the hate, pain and anger that can eat away at us and affect our mental health. If you can accept youā€™ve had some good times but itā€™s time toĀ move on, then all the better ā€“ besides, you wonā€™t have to cancel your ex-partner from social media or delete their name from your contacts! If you can appreciate theĀ mutualĀ interests you had then thereā€™s no reason why you canā€™t continue aĀ platonicĀ relationship.

But holding onto the past and staying friends doesnā€™t always work ā€“ you just have to accept you and your partner just werenā€™tĀ compatible, therefore itā€™s best to give each other space, to look forward, and try to get anyĀ romanticĀ feelings you once hadĀ out of your system. And according to some, staying friends with your ex isnā€™t a good option. Marie-Claire Chappet told the BBC, ā€œIt does nothing but prolong the pain of the break-upā€.

Helen Fisher, a neurologist at the Kinsey Institute whoā€™s been studying the psychology in relationships, also told the BBC: ā€œThe way to accelerate mending aĀ broken heartĀ is similar to treating addiction ā€“ you put away their things, stop looking at their social media and have no contact with them.ā€

So, maybe itā€™s time to get in touch with your real friends, instead of seeking friendship with ā€˜a ghost from the pastā€™.

Q: Talk about a piece of news that you’ve read recently. Opinions?
A: I have read a piece of news on the internet that Kris Wu has been convicted, which brings a lot of discussion. One voice is that he really did something illegal and the other voice is that he’s innocent. As far as I/ From my part of view, things are not what we can see from the surface. First, this news is released by Chinese/Beijing government but they haven’t give the definite and detailed information of this case. Second, as we got this information from internet, there are many other so-called evidence which are not connected with Kris Wu. Last, as I know, I don’t think Kris Wu can do so many bad things alone. I think there’s a group of people like a internet, he’s just a tool of capitalism.
