placate – to make someone feel better by giving them something small

overtime (N.) – work that exceeds the time you usually work

eg: You don’t want to overwork your employees, or they will start to hate their jobs.

eg: He always works overtime but never gets extra salary.

eg: Unofficial overtime should be forbidden by law. Because it exploits the rights of employees.

eg: His wage is about 20 yuan per hour. So cheap to hire him.

placate – to make someone feel better by giving them something small

eg: They don’t offer any real solutions, they just placate people with coupons and cinema tickets.
