General Words

Syrup – describes consistency, thick and sticky liquid

Grain – a measure word, often used for foods, or rocks(sand), small hard things

eg: A grain of… Sugar, Salt, Pepper, Sand, Rice, Wheat


consistency (N.) – 1. how watery or thick a liquid is. 2. a degree of density, firmness, viscosity, etc.

eg: The liquid has the consistency of cream.  (To compare two things)

eg: The consistency of this milk is not right, it’s really watery, but it should be thick.

eg: I use zero percent milk to make yogurt because the consistency of condensed milk is thick and very heavy. So 2% milk would make it too thick.

condensed milk – milk that is like syrup

eg: I use condensed milk to make yogurt.

powder – many very fine grains

eg: I put these cookies in my pocket yesterday, and they are just powder now. I’m still gonna eat them though. haha.

powdered (ADJ.) – has been changed into powder

eg: Do you remember that powdered milk scandal? There was bad stuff in the babies powdered milk.

eg: I tried that powdered creamer by the coffee station in the office.

I tried that creamer.
