Vocabulary

I just came from my office

bound to do sth. – you will eventually do it, it will eventually happen.

eg: He’s bound to get a promotion if he keeps sales.

eg: It hasn’t rained in a long time, so I guess it is bound to rain any day now.

bound – headed for a destination

eg: This train is bound for Guangzhou, but I’ll get off at Hangzhou

eg: This flight is northbound.

literal – original meaning of a written word.    Actually

eg: His hands were literally tied together, they robbed him.

bind – to tie together,

eg: Tom’s hands were bound by the police.

figurative – opposite of literal, using words in creative ways.    Creatively

eg: His hands were tied figuratively, he could not change the contract for us.

tyrant – a ruler who has complete power over a country and who is cruel and unfair

eg: Some people call Kim Jong  Un a tyrant.

Phrases:

My hands are tied.  –  (There is nothing I can do,   especially to help.)

keep your cool – stay calm
