Vocabulary

I just stay sat in the driver’s seat

half – 50 % (percent) = 1/2  = One Half, half

quarter – 25 % (percent)  =  1/4 = One fourth, a fourth.

eg: A fourth of the stores I design are foreign companies.

Half past 5 = 5:30

A quarter till 6 = 5:45

A quarter past 10 = 10:15

outsider – not a local person

eg: They think outsiders are taking their jobs.

port – a place for boats

eg: Many boats go through the port everyday. The port of Tianjin is very busy.

airport – a place for planes

export – send out of a country, (must go through a port, or airport)

eg: My Mexican friend works in exports.

import – bring into a country, (must go through a port, or airport)

passport – I.D. for a country, let’s you pass through the airport.(border)

sink – to go underwater

eg: That boat sank yesterday.
