Vocabulary

afford – be able to pay for
eg: In Shanghai we can only afford one car.

Grammar

Tense – Tells you what time, or when the word is happening

In the Past.     In the past, people didn’t have cars. They used to ride horses.

In the Present    In the present many people have cars and mobile phones.

In the Future     In the future many people will have flying cars.

GO

What is the past tense of “GO”?     The past tense of “GO” is, “WENT”

Past Participle – Have Been,      Have Gone. (Qu Guo), Have done/eaten/seen

The present tense is “GO”       Present Continuous Tense is  “Going”

The Future tense is “WILL GO”

Last Sunday after class,I went shopping with my friends and finally bought the bag that I always liked.I liked the color and the style of the bag,but I haven’t bought it since the price is too expensive.There was a big sale last Sunday,so I bought it.


Last Sunday after class, I went shopping with my friends and finally bought the bag that I always liked. I liked the color and the style of the bag, but I haven’t bought it since it’s too expensive. There was a big sale last Sunday, so I was finally able to afford it.

English Logic = The BAG is too expensive/   The PRICE is High

Chinese Logic = The PRICE is too expensive  /   The BAG is too expensive

Too =  Really means (Too Much/Many)    More than you want/need/can handle

eg: Five cups of coffee is too much coffee for me. Maybe Angela will want 4 cups. I guess not, 4 cups is too much for her.

eg: There are too many people in the car.

eg: We don’t have too much time, so we need to hurry.

eg: There are not too many people, we can still invite 3 more.
