Vocabulary

Scar (n): 1- a mark left on part of the body after an injury, such as a cut, has healed.
E.g.: He was left with a big scar on his leg.
E.g.: That burn will leave a bad scar.

Contagious (adj): 1- A contagious disease can be caught by touching someone who has the disease or a piece of infected clothing.
E.g.: The infection is highly contagious, so don’t let anyone else use your towel.
E.g.: People who have HIV but are under treatment are not contagious.

Stigma (n): 1- a strong feeling of disapproval that most people in a society have about something, especially when this is unfair:
E.g.: In most places there is no longer any stigma to being divorced.
E.g.: Being an unmarried mother in America no longer carries the social stigma that it used to.

STD = Sexually Transmitted Disease.
