Vocabulary

Neuter (v): 1- to remove part of an animal’s sexual organs, so that it cannot produce young animals.
E.g.: Has your dog been neutered?

Vaccine (n): 1- a substance containing a virus or bacterium in a form that is not harmful, given to a person or animal to prevent them from getting the disease that the virus or bacterium causes. (v: Vaccinate)
E.g.: This vaccine protects against some kinds of the bacteria.

Dormant (adj): 1- something that is dormant is not active or growing but has the ability to be active at a later time.
E.g.: The long-dormant volcano has recently shown signs of erupting.

Nutritious (adj): 1- containing many of the substances needed for life and growth.
E.g.: Raw spinach is especially nutritious.

Replicate (v): 1- If organisms and genetic or other structures replicate, they make exact copies of themselves. 2- to make or do something again in exactly the same way. (n: Replication)
E.g.: The vet said that a nutritious diet will stop the virus from replicating.
E.g.: Researchers tried many times to replicate the original experiment.

Windshield (n): 1- the window at the front of a car or other four-wheeled vehicle.
E.g.: The crash broke the windshield, but no one was hurt.

Impact (n/v): 1- the force or action of one object hitting another. 2- a powerful effect that something, especially something new, has on a situation or person.
E.g.: The impact of the crash reduced the car to a third of its original length.
E.g.: The anti-smoking campaign had had/made quite an impact on young people.

Menopause (n): 1-  the time in a woman’s life when she gradually stops having periods (= blood flow from her uterus each month).
E.g.: Most women go through menopause between the ages of 45 and 55.

Andropause (n): 1- a collection of symptoms, including fatigue and a decrease in libido, experienced by some older men and attributed to a gradual decline in testosterone levels.
E.g.: He’s experiencing symptoms of andropause.

Alleviate (v): 1- to make something bad such as pain or problems less severe.
E.g.: The drugs did nothing to alleviate her suffering.
