Vocabulary

Eerie (adj): 1- strange in a frightening and mysterious way.
E.g.: She heard the eerie noise of the wind howling through the trees.

Mess (n): 1- Something or someone that is a mess, or is in a mess, looks dirty or untidy:
E.g.: He makes a terrible mess when he’s cooking.

Complicity (n): 1- involvement in a crime or some activity that is wrong.
E.g.: She is suspected of complicity in the fraud.

Bond (n): 1- a close connection joining two or more people:
E.g.: They’ve had a close bond since they were kids.

Soul (n): 1- the spiritual part of a person that some people believe continues to exist in some form after their body has died, or the part of a person that is not physical and experiences deep feelings and emotions.
E.g.: She suffered greatly while she was alive, so let us hope her soul is now at peace.

Wetlands (n): 1- an area of land consisting of marshes or swamps; an area that is naturally/periodically flooded.
E.g.: Thousands of acres of wetlands are destroyed every year by development.

Grasslands (n): 1– a large, flat area of land covered with grass, usually with few trees, that is found mostly in hot countries.
E.g.: The fire has destroyed a great part of the country’s grasslands.
