Vocabulary

Russia – a country north of China, the biggest country in Asia 俄罗斯

Ex. Even though Liao Ning is close to Russia, there are not many Russians there.

Altogether – 一共

Ex. I have been here for two years, but altogether my studies will take 4 years; I have two years left.

Personality – 个性

Ex. In my acting classes, my professors teach me how to change my personality.

Genuine – sincere, 真正

Ex. While acting, it is important to be sincere and genuine.

Trailer – a short video to give you a taste of something larger

Ex. Before I go to see a movie, I always watch the trailer first.

Promiscuous – someone who seduces other people, like Blanche, 淫乱

Ex. In the play A Streetcar Named Desire, Blanche is a very promiscuous character.

Suicide – to kill yourself

Ex. In the play A Streetcar Named Desire, Blanche’s husband commits suicide.

Widow- a woman whose husband died，寡妇

Ex. After Blanche’s husband died, Blanche was a widow.

To Burn Down – to be lost to fire

Ex. Blanche’s farm burned down and she was left with no money.

Plot – a story in a play or book

Ex. The plot of my favorite play is very complicated; many things are always happening.
