The 5 steps of infectious diseases

Infection

Illness

Convalescence = recovery

infectious = contagious

B-type hepatitis 乙肝, malaria 疟疾, AIDS, syphilis 梅毒 are all contagious diseases.

Tumours, traumatic diseases, myopathy, hereditary diseases are not infectious.

Hereditary = genetic = inherited

The incubation period of AIDS can be 5 to 8 years long.

Syphilis has 3 stages: during the first one, hard chancres 硬下疳 appear. During the second one, the infection spreads through the body and comes with rash. During the latent (hidden) stage, symptoms disappear, and the disease stops being infectious in the last stage but the symptoms get more acute and complications might appear.

Syphilis can be treated with penicillin, an antibiotic.

After convalescence, you will still have many antibodies for this bacteria in your blood forever. The detection of these antibodies in a patient suggest prior contamination by this disease.

It’s theoretically impossible to contract this disease more than once, like smallpox 天花.

Some diseases like chickenpox can be benign to children but malignant to adults.

In order to choose a speciality, you need selfcognition.
