I took part in a program to promote education for poor children in villages.

We need to promote education in Southwest China. People in villages look like they live in the past.
a standard of living
People in developed countries and developing countries have different standards of living.
developed countries: the USA, the UK, Germany, Israel, etc
developing countries: India, China, Brazil, etc
underdeveloped countries / third-world countries: Bangladesh, African countries
belong to
Some places belong to the United States. Many countries belong to the Commonwealth 英联邦(由英国和其他大多数曾经隶属于大英帝国的国家组成)
Australia belongs to the Commonwealth.
Grammar
PRESENT : I should knock the door.
PAST : I should have knocked the door.
should, could, would –> should have, could have, would have
You often use “should have” and “could have” to express regret 后悔 or disappointment 失望
I’m sorry, I should have told you.
I’m sorry, I could have helped you.
I’m a little angry. I think you should have helped your mother yesterday.
You could have told me the meeting was cancelled ! I came for nothing !
- I should have knocked the door but I was afraid to disturb (your class).
- Don’t worry, no problem ! You could have knocked.
