encourage 鼓励

You should encourage high-performing employees, not punish them.

mandatory 强制的

It is mandatory to pay fees for professional service. However, leaving a tip is up to you, it is not mandatory.

a custom = a habit, 风俗；习俗an accepted way of behaving or of doing things in a society or a community

In Canada, it is customary to leave a 20% tip.

approximately 差不多

(prox = close — approach = get close, proximity = close places, approximate = a close number)

You should leave approximately 20% of the total bill as a tip.

I think it’s immoral to have someone work for you for free.
