Vocabulary

nail (n): 1-to do something succcessfully:
E.g.: She nailed her audition and got the lead part in the musical.
E.g.: You totally nailed it!

audition (n): 1-a short performance that an actor, musician, dancer, etc. gives in order to show they are suitable for a particular play, film, show, etc.:
E.g.: His audition went well and he’s fairly hopeful about getting the part.
E.g.: The director is holding auditions next week for the major parts.

screw (v): to cheat or deceive someone:
E.g.: He really got screwed on that stock tip.
E.g.: It was only after we’d had the car for a few days that we realized we’d been screwed by the dealer.

grid (n): 1-a pattern or structure made from horizontal and vertical lines crossing each other to form squares:
E.g.: A metal grid had been placed over the hole to prevent people from falling in.
E.g.: In Barcelona the streets are laid out in/on a grid system.

lay something out (v): 1-to arrange something on a flat surface:
E.g.: Most of Manhattan is laid out in/on a grid pattern.
E.g.: We laid the pieces of the dress pattern out on the floor.

gridlock (n): 1-a situation where roads in a town become so blocked by cars that it is impossible for any traffic to move:
E.g.: A car breaking down at rush hour could cause gridlock across half the city.

merchandise (n)商品, goods that are bought and sold:
E.g.: Shoppers complained about poor quality merchandise and high prices.
E.g.: Japan exported $117 billion in merchandise to the US in 1999.

merchandiser (n): a person or organization that sells products:
E.g.: The merchandiser said demand for products from the movie had been significantly less than expected.
E.g.: a grain merchandiser

supply and demand-供求

supply and demand-the balance between the amount of goods available and the amount that people want to buy:
E.g.: Oil prices should be set by supply and demand, and not artificially regulated.
